What’s a Search Engine?

“A Search Engine helps you find things on the Internet. Any time anyone looks up anything on the Internet, where they start from scratch, they’re probably using a search engine. There are individual Search Engines such as Hotbot, MSN, AltaVista, Yahoo, Webcrawler and many others. Some Search Engines don’t even do their own listings, they just search those of other Search Engines.”

ความหมายของ Search Engine หรือ SE หมายถึง เครื่องมือบนอินเทอร์เน็ตประเภทหนึ่งที่มีความสามารถลึกล้ำ จนกลายเป็นปรากฏการณ์ที่น่าทึงอย่างหนึ่งพอๆ กับการสร้างอินเทอร์เน็ตขึ้นมาให้เราได้ใช้ เป็นเครื่องมือที่สามารถช่วยให้เราค้นหาข้อมูลต่างๆ ได้จากทุกที่ตามที่เราต้องการ เพียงแค่เรากรอกข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับสิ่งที่ต้องการค้นหา (Keyword) ระบบการทำงานของ SE ก็จะทำการจัดเรียงรายงานข้อมูลเว็บไซต์หรือเว็บเพจต่างๆ ที่มีอยู่ในสารบบออกมาให้เราเลือกสรรอย่างมากมายก่ายกอง
